I'm waiting patiently but slightly impatiently for this book to arrive from Amazon.com. Okay, I can't wait for it to come and I'll probably set all other reading aside. I was one of the privileged few of Omaha who heard the author speak at the Durham Museum last week. And they had a severe shortage of books there.

I have an insatiable need to read biographies and watch documentaries. I read the biography of Amelia Earhart an easy 37 times during my 3rd grade year. And did I mention that I'm a nerd who watched Histories Mysteries and NOVA specials on Netflix???

Less about me, though...

Here are some other AMAZING books about people with BIG LIVES that I think everyone should read...

No Compromise: The Life Story of Keith Green by Melody Green
Mission Possible by Marilyn Laszlo
The Chosen by Chaim Potok (fiction)
The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom
Oswald Chambers: Abandoned to God by David McCasland
The Diary of Anne Frank
Susannah Wesley: Servant of God

And oh, the list could go on. Read, and read, and read. Read the biographies of as many as you can (be sure to read several different authors, too). And when you're tired of reading, write your own history...

Love until forever... (and ever and ever and ever)

Dead men say the sweetest things...

Sonnet 128

How oft, when thou, my music, music play'st,
Upon that blessed wood whose motion sounds
With they sweet fingers, when thou gently sway'st
The wiry concord that mine ear confounds,
Do I envy those jacks that nimble leap
To kiss the tender inward of thy hand,
Whilst my poor lips, which should that harvest reap,
At the wood's boldness by thee blushing stand!
To be so tickled, they would change their state
And situation with those dancing chips,
O'er whom they fingers walk with gentle gait,
Making dead wood more blest than living lips.
Since saucy jacks so happy are in this,
Give them thy fingers, me thy lips to kiss.

Too hard to decide...

Hello, love-of-mine... How are you today? I've missed you terribly and can't wait to touch you, hold you, smell you, taste you... (oops, this is supposed to be PG so I'll stop there).

I want something yummy today to finish my fabulous lunch from Jimi-D's. HELP! I can't decide. Which should it be...

or

I'll be seeing you soon, oh-goodness-in-my-life...

Love until forever,

What's that you say...

Sometimes I hold the door open for an older woman and wonder what kind of stories she could tell me if we were having coffee. Would I find myself in the presence of a Corrie ten Boom?

And then I wonder what it takes for an ordinary life to become extra-ordinary. At what point does our story evolve? How many little things does it take to add up to one big life?

Ask an older person to tell you a story and then listen. Their words are like buckets of gold.

Behind this door...

I decided this week that I want to live in a house with a GREEN DOOR. Actually, I wonder what it would be like to live behind THIS green door. My address would be "9 Lovely Green Door Drive". If only my landlord would let me paint our door (it would not match the siding, however).

Here are my reasons:
1. Green is fresh, welcoming
2. Green reminds me of the cool grass in the summer
3. Green reminds me of ANY grass in the winter
4. Green is rich
5. Green is different (everyone has white or red doors but very few have grass green or bright blue doors)

So, let it be known that I have added one more wish to my wishlist of H's (two H's I wish for someday... a house and a husband) Of the house... it shall have a green door. Of the husband... he shall live behind the green door with me.

Love until forever, GREEN DOOR...
